WHAT IS WRITTEN ON A DOG'S FACE?
A study examining what canine facial markings and expressions can teach us about the evolution of communication
EXPLORING ANIMAL BEHAVIOR AND COGNITION WITH CANINE COMMUNITY SCIENTISTS
In-person research is temporarily suspended but you and your dog
can still participate at home and online!

The more information we have about how dogs behave at home, the more we can understand them! Each survey takes about 10-20 minutes.
By sharing short videos of your dog doing everyday activities, you can contribute to science, and your pups will receive a certificate of "paw"ticipation. Plus, you'll be entered in a raffle to win a Chewy.com gift card!
ABOUT
I am a doctoral research candidate in the George Washington University Department of Anthropology's Center for Advanced Study of Human Paleobiology, conducting this study with support from my colleagues in the Bradley Primate Genomics Lab at GW and the Hecht Lab at Harvard University. I am interested in how increased understanding of dog behavior can make us better canine companions and inform what we know about the evolution of language, communication and social relationships.
I'm looking forward to hearing from you and your canine friends!
